Last week, the Delishow once again proved to be the ultimate platform where growers, traders, and other industry professionals gathered to discover the latest developments in Deliflor's breeding program. Alongside established commercial favorites, this year’s show featured an impressive array of new varieties.

Carnaval de Flores: vibrant and tropical
With the theme Carnaval de Flores, the event brought an exuberant and tropical atmosphere. Both the greenhouse and the surrounding paths were beautifully decorated, immersing visitors in a burst of color.

Workshop for women in the industry
The event kicked off on Tuesday with a highlight: a creative workshop exclusively for women in the sector, including growers’ wives, marketing professionals, and trade partners. Participants created their own floral arrangements using Deliflor’s latest varieties. The new Dropshot Coral was the undeniable star of the session. If you missed this inspiring workshop and would like to join next time, let us know by emailing marketing@deliflor.nl.

Spotlight on new varieties
The blooming trials showcased many promising newcomers. A striking large white disbud chrysanthemum drew unanimous admiration, while Smashmint also captured much attention. Additionally, a vibrant orange spray chrysanthemum stood out for its warm, intense color. Favorites such as Mirana and Honeymoon remained as popular as ever, and the newly discovered Commander Yellow sparked excitement as a fantastic addition to the existing white and pink variants of this strong variety.

A festive closing
The week concluded on Thursday evening with a lively dinner and drinks reception. The Quizbrothers added a touch of fun with an engaging quiz, sparking friendly competition among attendees. Several participants went home with wonderful prizes.

A successful week of opportunities
Deliflor reflects on an inspiring week filled with meaningful conversations and commercial opportunities. We thank all visitors for their presence and look forward to welcoming you again next time!

Have you already met Teddy? Teddy has made quite a journey at Deliflor. He stood head and shoulders above the rest during our breeding process. After extensive testing, Teddy proved ready to choose his own path. He earned a spot at the rooting location in Maasdijk, before continuing to grow in the beautiful greenhouses of grower Infinity.

In week 3, you can meet him in person during the Delishow at Deliflor. And he’ll also be available at the FloraHolland auction, as Infinity will introduce this novelty Santini chrysanthemum to the market starting from week 3.

Come and admire this beautiful cream-colored Santini for yourself during the Delishow, and meet mascot Teddy right away!

Infinity Chrysanten has planted its first chrysanthemum cuttings at its brand-new 4-hectare facility in Bruchem. For this milestone, Deliflor Hoogveld delivered its first-ever plug-rooted cuttings. Infinity, a member of the Kreling cooperative, holds the primeur for this innovation.

The decision to opt for plug-rooted cuttings stems from several factors, according to owner ArnĂ© Kreling. Key benefits include faster and more uniform root development in young chrysanthemum plants, enhanced growth uniformity, and reduced risks of pests and diseases. “Since root development in plugs progresses more quickly and plants establish better, the overall chrysanthemum cultivation cycle can be shortened. This means achieving a market-ready plant faster, which increases productivity,” explains ArnĂ©.

These anticipated benefits are currently the subject of practical research, with Deliflor Hoogveld closely monitoring developments. “We are committed to exploring all advancements that contribute to more sustainable chrysanthemum cultivation with reduced reliance on crop protection agents,” says Gert van de Werken, director of Deliflor Hoogveld. “As a leading and innovative rooting company, we strive for sustainability combined with economic benefits. Our new facility in Nieuwaal is already equipped for plug cultivation, so we’re prepared for wider adoption of this method.”

The plug trays used by Deliflor Hoogveld at their new facility were custom-developed in collaboration with Beekenkamp Verpakkingen. “This project highlights the added value of the diverse expertise within the Beekenkamp Group,” says Bob Persoon, sales manager at Beekenkamp Verpakkingen and a key player in the development of the plug trays. “Thanks to efficient collaboration, we achieved relatively rapid product development, ensuring the end product meets all specific requirements. Arthur Sitee, product developer at Beekenkamp Verpakkingen, played an essential role in this process.”
